What Andover's housing stock means for shower replacement
Homes in Andover were built in 1939 or earlier, on the median.
90% of Andover homes went up before 1980, before several of today's plumbing and glazing codes existed.
A shower replacement in one of Andover's older homes is a reasonable time to bring the valve and glass up to current code, even if only the surround looked like it needed work.
10 top-rated shower replacement pros near Andover
One ranked list here instead of the usual tile, plumbing and glass split, ordered by a score that combines star rating and review count. That combined score says nothing about licensing, so ask any business which license, if any, covers its part of the job.

Questions for each trade
- Tile: who waterproofs the wall before new tile goes up, and what product do they use?
- Tile: does the quote include removing the old surround, or does that happen separately?
- Plumbing: is the new valve pressure-balance or thermostatic, and what brand and model?
- Plumbing: does the drain stay in its current spot, or is it moving?
- Glass: framed or frameless, and is the glass tempered to meet the safety-glazing rule for wet locations?
- Glass: what's the lead time on ordering, since custom glass is often the longest-lead item on the job?
- All trades: who is the single point of contact if something needs to be redone?
